Katy Hobbs, LM, CPM

Birth is an everyday miracle, a moment in time that is the most profound and transformative experience and yet, it is something we all share- we have all been born! I am honored to be a witness and guide for families as they experience these prosaic, life changing moments. I am especially passionate about the postpartum period and I love supporting parents to prepare for what is truly needed during that time.

I am a Licensed Midwife serving families in Manistee County and the surrounding area. Since 2012, I have been a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) attending births in Northern Michigan and received my license in 2019 when licensing became available in Michigan. Learn more about what a CPM is by clicking this link. I was trained through formal academic studies and apprentice based clinical training that started in 2007 and I received a diploma from National Midwifery Institute in 2012. I also have a B.S. in Biology from Northland College.

I have attended births at home, birth center and hospital settings. I am dedicated to continuing education, peer review, and maintaining up to date statistics and I continually seek out opportunities for learning and professional development, including as a member of Michigan Midwives Association, and keep neonatal resuscitation and CPR certifications up to date. I worked with another midwifery practice for 7 years and now have a solo practice. I work closely with other midwives in the area, attending births with them and having them attend births with me.

I live in the woods of the Manistee River valley with my husband and our three children who were all born with the help of midwives.
